Angela & Josh's Las Vegas Backyard Wedding & Reception
Angela and Josh are perfect for each other and I could tell this immediately after meeting them for the first time. They too love coffee and tea, so it was only fitting to meet them at a local coffee shop in Summerlin. We enjoyed the afternoon talking about all things coffee, of course, because I love coffee too. We talked about french presses, espresso, cold brew, we really covered it all! These two are both talented artists so we, of course, talked a lot about art. They are both now working for the same small business here in Las Vegas. They also like to do community-based artwork and love bringing people together. "Josh is just good at everything he does", said Angela. Josh just blushed a little (I think he knows she's right)! We had the perfect afternoon, sipping coffee and tea and chatting with these two sweethearts.
Angela and Josh put God first in all that they do. I can see their love for each other in the way Josh looks at Angela, the way he holds her and the way Angela looks up at him while holding Josh's hand. Their love for each other is such a beautiful thing, and I'm so happy to have been a part of their beautiful love story!
The couple didn't want to see each other beforehand so Angela was locked away in the upstairs room of the house, instructed to stay away from all windows! To ensure she didn't see Josh, who was roaming around a bit outside, as most guys do! ;)
Notice Josh's socks, they have donuts and coffee on them, haha. So fitting! He really is coffee obsessed, the proof is in the socks!
The bridal room was filled with hairspray, make-up, ladies chatting and getting ready, and even a few babies were in and out of the room. But most importantly everyone was focused on making sure Angela looked as stunning as ever on her wedding day. Angela's mother, Anna, and her maid-of-honor, Massy, helped her get into her lace bodice, backless wedding dress with POCKETS (my favorite kind of dress, always)! Carla, who did Angela's hair, was there to assist in putting on her cathedral veil and blusher.
Angela's bridal look was finally complete and she was ready to walk down the aisle to her groom with her dad by her side! The ceremony was filled with laughter, prayers and sweet personal vows. As well as a reading, the lighting of the unity candles and then, of course, the grand finale when the veil was lifted and Angela and Josh were pronounced husband and wife!
This Las Vegas backyard was pretty epic and one of the biggest and prettiest I've seen in the city. The desert trees and cacti in one corner of the yard made the perfect backdrop for Angela & Josh's first photos together as husband and wife! Oh and I, of course, had to get a few of Josh's super rad stache!
In between the ceremony and reception, the bride and groom shared a quiet moment together to receive communion. It was such a beautiful and meaningful moment and one of my favorites of the day, as they prayed and held hands and broke the bread and drank from the cup, together as one before the Lord.
So much love was felt between this sweet couple, as well as, all 200+ family members and friends who traveled both near and far to attend their backyard wedding & reception in the Las Vegas desert. Everything turned out perfect and the weather was incredible, a perfect warm Vegas day for this backyard event!
It was an Italian themed dinner with Lasagna, salad, and rolls. Wine for the adults and champagne for the toast. A few tears were shed during the toasts and a whole lot of laughs. Angela has the voice of an angel and graced us all with an impromptu song! It was AMAZING! Angela's mom handed the couple each a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush and said, 'now you can both have your own and one can roll the end up, and one can squeeze from the middle.' Anna then invited all the guests to stand up and dance to, 'We are Family'!
Dances were shared under the twinkling bistro lights, with teary eyes and long embraces. I could feel the love and appreciation these two have for their parents.
Hands down one of the best cutting the cake moments in all my time as a wedding photographer. I've never seen the bride fall backward as the groom is shoving cake in her face. Angela was such a great sport and Josh grabbed her and kissed her as she was still on the ground. The whole reception was laughing and Anna, Angela's mom, gave Josh a high-five after the whole ordeal. It truly was super impressive and made what could have been 'another boring cutting the cake moment' into one of the greatest of all time!
Thank you, Angela and Josh, for allowing be to be a part of your very special day! I wish you all the best in the start of your life as Mr & Mrs and in making your new house feel like home. I wish you joy and happiness each and every day and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you two sweethearts. Josh, in case you didn't know, you totally owe Angela big time for that cake smash to the face! ;)
Also, a special shout-out and thank you to Aunt Carmela, who helped plan the event and helped me organize family photos as well as keep everything running smoothly! You did an amazing job, Carmela!
