ELOPEMENT VS WEDDING

Are you considering an elopement in the desert over a large wedding and reception in your home town? Many couples are opting for a smaller, more intimate wedding or elopement rather than an all day, large scale event. It comes down to what’s most important to the two of you and your personalities to determine which is right for the two of you. Large wedding or just the two of you out in the desert, there’s no right way to get married, it’s all about determining what feels right for you and will be the most meaningful.

Here are a few things to consider when you’re deciding between an elopement and a large wedding.

Do you enjoy large crowds, loud music and being the center of attention? Or do you prefer quieter nights in, surrounded by a few close friends?  If you prefer loud music and large parties, you’re probably better suited to host a larger wedding with a super fun reception, dancing the night away. If you’re the quieter type and like more intimate settings, an elopement would suit you best. Elopements tend to be more for those who don’t want to be the center of attention, who like quieter moments, and focus more on one-on-one time with their loved ones.

Do you have a healthy budget specifically for your wedding? Or would you rather use the money for a down payment on a house or a new car?  If you’re wanting to spend less on your wedding, you’ll want to consider eloping, just the two of you or maybe bringing a few close friends or family members. Elopements cost much less than the average 30,000 dollar American wedding or the 50,000 dollar average Australian wedding. You can still have an incredible, intimate wedding for 10,000 dollars (or even less), that is beautifully documented and memorable too. Who says you have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to have a good time? I bet some of your best memories throughout your life are times you didn’t spend a dime.

Do you want to do something unconventional, artistic, and maybe even a tad ‘crazy’? Or do you prefer a more traditional wedding, with your entire family present to see the two of you commit to one another?

If you’re wanting to do something unconventional or wanting to wear a sequin gown or colored wedding dress, or wanting to get married surrounded by nature in the middle of nowhere, eloping is most definitely for you.

There are no rules for elopements. You can do, wear, say, be wherever you want, whenever you want. You are free to be expressive and it’s actually encouraged when you’re eloping. However, if you’re wanting your dad to you walk you down the long aisle of the beautiful 200-year-old church you attended your entire life. Or you’re wanting to wear that big ballgown you’ve been eyeing before you were engaged. Or you’re wanting your elderly grandparents to attend, then a more traditional style wedding might be the best fit.

Although, you can absolutely wear a ballgown to your elopement, because again, there are no rules and everything works, especially in the desert.

ELOPEMENTS:  YOU CAN DO, SAY, WEAR & BE WHEREVER & WHENEVER YOU WANT.

There are so many options and ways to get married, which is wonderful! You don’t have to get married how your parents or grandparents did, or you absolutely can. The options are endless, which might make wedding planning even more overwhelming. Sit down with your soon-to-be spouse and make of list of the most important aspects of your wedding day. Is it a huge and fun party for all your family and friends or is a more intimate setting with just a few? Is it a grand event or is it a super simple affair? Is it artistic and unconventional or is it a day filled with traditions? Whatever you decide, be sure it is the two of you making the decision.

Because after all, it is YOUR day, it is YOUR wedding, it is YOUR marriage.
