I'm a small town Iowa girl who spent my summers barefoot in the yard, swinging and searching for four-leaf clovers. I started photography at age 10, with a point and shoot film camera. I captured nearly every sunset, rolls and rolls of sunset photos. I excelled in art throughout grade school. I was so lucky to have a passionate, loving art teacher in high school who saw my talent and drive and helped me excel. I always knew I was meant to be an artist and didn't let anything or anyone try to convince me otherwise.

I graduated in 2013 with honors from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Fine Art with an emphasis in Photography and a minor in Art History.

I always knew I would be a photographer, but I never knew I would find a passion in travel as well. My Junior year of college, I nervously packed my car and moved to New Mexico to attend UNM for photography. I didn't know a single soul in Albuquerque, but the universe was pulling me to the desert. I was hooked on traveling and experiences new areas of the US and the world.  From New Mexico, I moved to Utah for a semester to do a photography internship. After my internship, I moved to Port Elizabeth, South Africa for a semester studying abroad at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. The next year I got hired to teach English to elementary students in South Korea. I signed up for a semester and stayed for a year and a half.

I've learned so much through travel about myself and the world and am so thankful for these opportunities and all the wonderful souls I've met on my journey.

It all began on September 10, 2010. I was flying Delta from Salt Lake City to Chicago to see my cousins. He was flying Delta from Salt Lake City to Chicago and then on to England, where he was living. He spotted me at the airport and hoped by some miracle we would be on the same flight.

Well, the stars aligned that day and our seat assignments landed us in the same row, right next to each other. We talked the entire flight and at the end of the flight, he asked for my Facebook, in case I ever decided to travel to England and needed advice (or whatever excuse he used)

We chatted on social media, FaceTimed for hours upon hours, took a 9-day first date road trip around the West. Oh yeah, he knew the way to this wanderer's heart.

May 10, 2015 --  because 5 + 10 = 15. We drove down to the Little White Chapel's Tunnel of Love in Las Vegas. We sat in our car during the ceremony, which was performed out of the drive-thru window and then we drove away... married. It was just us, it was perfectly simple complete with homemade twisty-tie rings (because my custom designed ring wasn't ready yet). We ate Thai food for lunch and went out to the desert to take photos at sunset.

It was so simple, so us and a day we will never forget.

September 10, 2016, we had a very simple ceremony at my grandparents' farm in Iowa near where I grew up and a lovely reception at an old train depot! We chose this day since it was the day we met.

We had smoked pulled pork tacos for dinner, eclectic plates from thrift stores, airplane cookies and square dancing for all ages all complete with a sparkler send off.

We wanted a way for our families to get together and meet and have a fun two-day celebration. Our vow ceremony was on Friday evening at sunset and our reception was the next evening. We wanted something unique and something that was 'us'. The non-traditional reception venue also fit our travel theme. We wanted a way to get everyone involved with dancing, so we had a caller who taught us square dancing. It was one of the best decisions we made. Everyone had a blast. And the sparkler send-off at the end (thanks to my dad) was pretty amazing too.
